'The Computer Guys':
The Computer Guys is a LIVE TV show sponsored
by
Affordable Computers which airs live every
Thursday evening at 6:00pm..
The show airs on Fort Oglethorpe's own UCTV digital channel
265, and also dual broadcasts in Chattanooga on
channel 96, and on Charter channel 5. The Computer Guys is hosted by
Affordable Computers' owner
Steve Flegal, Fort
Oglethorpe store manager
David Waltermyer. Each week
on the show viewers may call in live to ask
computer-related questions. There are also many
weekly segments including; Free Download of the
Week, Question of The Week, and This Week in Photos.
Computer tips and Tricks are also discussed as well
as computer and technology related news. There is
always a laptop on the set which at anytime can be
switched over to so that viewers can actually get a
live demonstration of their question.
You can also catch reruns of the show periodically
throughout the week on UCTV.
A bit of History...
The Computer Guys began
airing on UCTV in November of 2004. The show quickly
became very popular with local viewers and the total
amount of people who tune in each week continued to
grow. The show was eventually expanded from the
original 30 minute length to a full hour, and this
website was added to supplement the show so viewers
could easily find more information on topics
discussed each week.
On the January 21st, 2010 broadcast it was announced
during the 2nd half of the program that after over 5
years on the air, this would be the last show. David
& Steve felt at the time that the show had run it's
course and it was time to pull the plug. There were
no immediate plans one way or the other if the show
would ever return. Viewers of the show were directed
to Affordable Computer's Facebook page (which was a
very new addition at the time) to continue to get
tips & tricks from The Computer Guys in lue of the
show.
Leading up to it with several 'hints' on May 23rd
2011 it was announced via the Affordable Computers
Facebook page that 'The Computer Guys' would be
returning to the air on June 9th, 2011. The show
would be back in it's original weekly Thursday 6pm
time slot, and would now be back to a running time
of 30 minutes.
